Panel Discussion on Visibility, Community, and Hate Speech on TikTok (in German)

Why is contemporary Jewish life in Germany barely visible on TikTok? While a diverse digital community has emerged in the United States around the hashtag and term JewTok, Jewish voices are far less visible on German-language channels. What role do antisemitism, hate speech, and inadequate safety measures play? And what is needed to ensure that Jewish perspectives are visible, diverse, and represented on their own terms in the digital space? These questions are at the heart of the panel discussion Jewish on the Feed, which brings content creators, experts, and audiences together for a conversation. The discussion will focus on the personal experiences of people who make Jewish culture visible online, as well as the challenges they encounter on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram. Topics include digital public spaces, responsibility, community building, allyship, and the impact of antisemitic harassment on the visibility of Jewish perspectives. How can digital spaces be made safer? What responsibility do platforms, institutions, and users have? And how can Jewish culture become more visible online?
