As part of the exhibition The Opposite of Now: Artistic Paths to a Different Present
Join us for an afternoon with artist Dor Zlekha Levy and composer and choir leader Laila Mazal Yenishen! Dor Zlekha Levy developed an interactive audio work, Esperoj (Hopes), especially for our group exhibition The Opposite of Now.
Inspired by the vision of a shared language across divisions, he reimagines the Esperanto anthem La Espero (The Hope) in collaboration with Laila Mazal Yenishen and an eclectic group of musicians from Jerusalem. The composition is a polyphonic sound event; its length, tension, and complexity depend on the number of listeners.
The talk will explore the ideas behind Esperoj, the challenges of its production, and Levy's artistic practice that is based on ongoing collaborations with musicians. The event will include a collective singing experience led by Laila Mazal Yenishen.
Please find time before the event to listen in to Esperoj in the exhibition space.
