Religion and ritual - Sukkot

A special edition of our Religion and Ritual tour series focuses on Sukkot, which begins on September 26, 2026. The seven-day feast is a joyful, optimistic celebration. In the Book of Leviticus, the third Book of the Old Testament, God commands his people to dwell in thatched booths:

"Ye shall dwell in booths seven days […] That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt."
